Traditionally the season of Lent encouraged Christians to abstain from foods such as meat and food that came from animals like milk, cheese, butter, eggs, and animal fats. But all those items needed to be used up before the fast began. Thus the day before Lent became known as "Fat Tuesday." As you make plans to attend the Fat Tuesday Pancake Supper Feb. 13 we encourage you to "bring out the fat" to support our food pantry and the 200,000 Reasons initiative. Bring us your food donations and we will put them to use helping others.
