High school seniors who love STEM subjects, here's a scholarship for you! UTeach Arkansas is hosting a scholarship competition that encourages students to make a 15-second video that demonstrates a STEM concept. The contest is inspired by the Museum of Discovery's celebrity scientist, Kevin Delaney, who recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to demonstrate cool science.

The UTeach Arkansas program encourages high school students to follow in the steps of Delaney and countless other engaging educators. The program addresses the shortage of STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) teachers and encourages high school students to study those fields and consider teaching.

The scholarship contest is open to Arkansas students entering college during the academic year of 2015-2016. Each entrant is asked to submit a 15-second-or-less video that demonstrates a STEM concept, and three high school seniors will be chosen as winners.

The winners will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship package that includes a $2,500 tuition credit at a participating Arkansas UTeach university (University of Arkansas, UALR and University of Central Arkansas), a laptop (approx. $1,500 value), graphing calculator (approx. $250 value) and $750 book voucher.

Entries must be posted on a social channel using #UTeachARScholarship, and applicants must provide a viewable link with their form submission on UTeachArkansas.org. Finalists will be selected based on accuracy, clarity and imagination.

Winners who attend a school other than the three universities listed above will forfeit the $2,500 tuition credit. Entries will be accepted through Nov. 30, 2014, and three winning entries will be announced January 2015.
