A statue in Bremen, Germany celebrates the Brothers Grimm folktale, "The Bremen Town Musicians," which Wildwood Park for the Arts will bring to school stages this spring.

This spring, children at elementary schools around the state will be able to see a fully-staged play from Wildwood Park for the Arts' touring production, Art to Go! Focusing on grades pre-K through 5th grade, the professional theater troupe will visit more than 20 schools in April and May and is currently taking reservations.

This year's production is "The Bremen Town Musicians," a one-act operetta based on the Brothers Grimm folktale. The story is about four farm animals that unite to form a band. Directed by Dr. Bevan Keating, Director of Conducting and Choral Studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the production includes themes of teamwork, cooperation and collaborative problem-solving. Musical selections include works by Offenbach, Rossini, Verdi and more.

Currently, the tour is accepting bookings throughout the state. Performances can take place in school auditoriums, gymnasiums and cafeterias, as well as public libraries, festival settings and state parks.

Performance fees are $500 for a 45-minute performance, plus a question-and-answer session with the cast following the show. Study guides and worksheets will also be made available for classroom discussion. All Art to Go! activities have been designed to fit within the Department of Education's Curriculum Frameworks. The Arkansas Arts Council (AAC) may underwrite up to $200 of the performance fee for public schools, government entities or a 501(c)3 organization.
