Breathe a sigh of relief--you've almost made it to your three-day weekend! If you're spending Memorial Day in central Arkansas, you'll find plenty of special holiday happenings.

Of course, the major Memorial Day extravaganza will be the annual Riverfest music festival on the banks of the Arkansas River in downtown Little Rock. You'll also find some outdoor fun at DeGray Lake Resort State Park and Arkansas' many water parks

Riverfest Family Events in Downtown Little Rock: The 2015 lineup for adults includes Sheryl Crow, Kris Allen, Better Than Ezra, Sister Hazel, Swampbirds and others. The Family Stage offers performances by dance groups, tumbling teams, Little Rock Zoo presentations, and more. Head to the Deltic Timber KidZone located near the Peabody Playground & Water Park to make nature-themed crafts. For the adventurous kid, scale 20 feet into the air on the Rock Climbing Wall, or soar, somersault and flip safely attached to bungee cords on the Quad Jump. Then cool off in the splash pad. Opening Weekend at Splash Zone in Jacksonville: Jacksonville’s premier water park features a plunge pool with two water slides, a water tunnel, the umbrella-shaped Rain Drop and Dew Drop water showers and the kids-only Tea Cup. Memorial Weekend at DeGray Lake Resort State Park: Many of the state parks will offer special workshops and activities this weekend! At DeGray Lake Resort State Park, families can enjoy a day of swimming and boating, as well as special activities on land. Go Outdoors Event at Bass Pro Shops: Prepare for summer camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing and more with free family activities and workshops. You’ll learn the basics of kayaking, local trails to explore, how to make camping exciting for kids, recipes for campfire cooking and more. May 23-24. Special Olympics Arkansas Statewide Summer Games at Harding University: Nearly 2,000 athletes from across the state compete in six different sports: athletics, Bocce, flag football, powerlifting, softball, and aquatics. The three-day event begins Thursday evening with the Opening Ceremonies.
