Hot Springs is one of our favorite, nearby getaways and now central Arkansas has another reason to love the summer hotspot: The Spa City is launching a brand-new, outdoor movie series! Called Movies at the Market, the series will show free films at the Farmers' Market each Thursday in June and July.

And if that news isn't exciting enough, the lineup is sure to please. "Frozen" kicks off the cinematic fun this Thursday, June 11, and will be followed by such modern classics as "The Goonies" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Here's the full lineup for the inaugural season:

  • June 11-Frozen
  • June 18-Seabiscuit
  • June 25-The Goonies
  • July 2-Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • July 9-Grease
  • July 16-True Grit
  • July 23-Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Entry to Movies at the Market is completely free. Movie-goers can pack up a picnic (no glass containers allowed) or visit the concession booths to purchase goodies like popcorn, soft drinks and candy. Pets are also allowed, as long as they remain well-behaved and on a leash. And, don't forget your bug spray, and lawn chairs or blankets--no seating will be provided!

The grounds will open at 7:30 p.m. and movies begin at sundown. For more information, visit HotSprings.org.
