It's not too late to donate a school supplies drive in central Arkansas and help local kids start a new school year! Several programs that serve low-income families are still in need of basic supplies. So, if you've been meaning to pick up some extra scissors or notebooks, here's where you can donate.

Youth Home, Inc.'s Back to School Program: Give to this annual drive that benefits students who attend Youth Home's on-campus school. The school accepts a long list of items, including pens and markers, stickers and sticky notes, white copy paper and loose-leaf notebook paper, shoes and socks, and more. Click here for a complete list of items or call Larry Betz at (501) 821-5500, ext. 209 for more information.

The Salvation Army of Central Arkansas: Backpacks are stuffed with brand-new school supplies and given to children in grades K-12 who live in Pulaski, Lonoke, White and Saline Counties. You can also donate online at SalvationArmyCentralArkansas.org; the average cost of a backpack filled with supplies is $60.

Our House: This shelter for the working homeless has already supplied its families with school supplies, but is still in need of supplies for any new residents who might move in. They also need markers (both washable and dry erase), and clear or mesh backpacks. Contact Mariah at (501) 374-7383, ext. 214 for information on how to donate.
