It's almost Father's Day! If you're looking for ways to celebrate good old dad this weekend, you have plenty of options for outings in central Arkansas. Many lakes and ponds are stocked for family fishing derbies and several museums are hosting special activities and festivals, including the fun-filled, yet educational Tinkerfest at Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs.

Fourth Annual Tinkerfest at Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs: More than fifty tinkering stations related to science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics take over the museum. A new tinkering station will be led by NWA 3D printingthis year, alongside returning organizations like the Garland County Library, Emergent Arts and others. Juneteenth at Mosaic Templars Cultural Center: This annual commemoration of the end of slavery is a fun-filled event rooted in history and focused on the future. With a variety of entertainment throughout the day, this block-party style celebration has something for everyone—live music, poetry, children’s activities, food trucks, and nonprofit and vendor booths ranging from clothing to food. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. June 18. Super Summer Saturdays at the Clinton Center: This summer, as the Center celebrates the Rio 2016 Olympics with its temporary exhibit, families can also take advantage of sporting and Olympic-themed, educational activities that pay tribute to the Games. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 18. 18th Annual Youth Fishing Derby & Family Fun Day Event at Dupree Park Lake in Jacksonville: Lots of hungry fish are biting at the annual youth fishing derby in Jacksonville. Fishing enthusiasts, ages 15 and under, are invited to join in the morning of fun and fishing. After the Fishing Derby, stay for a family event at the park with food and fun; admission is free.
