Summer is heating up! We see ourselves lounging poolside this weekend (or maybe floating a river!), but we're also saving some room in our schedule to visit some of these free and cheap events, including Magic Spring’s International Culture Day, insect inspecting at Pinnacle Mountain and a music festival in the River Market Pavilion.

Magic Spring’s International Culture Day and Christmas in July: Celebrate international culture at Magic Springs and Crystal Falls by visiting food vendors offering cuisines from around the world. Exhibits also feature international culture by showcasing art, dancing, clothing, jewelry and more. Additionally, the park celebrates Christmas in July, complete with visits with Santa and lots of holiday decor! All ages welcome. Season pass or $54.99 general admission ticket. Inspect an Insect Weekend at Pinnacle Mountain State Park: Discover the world of all things that crawl, buzz and fly! Spend the weekend learning about the different types of insects in the park and have a chance to eat one! Contact the park for a detailed program schedule. This is an all-day event. July 23-24. 55th Annual Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition at Arkansas Arts Center: Enjoy the last weekend of the Annual Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition. First presented in 1961, the exhibition celebrates both the creative achievements of young artists and the youthful spirits of Arkansans. Now in its sixth decade, this annual children's art exhibition showcases artwork by Arkansas students from with hopes to ensure learning, inspiration and creative expression are occurring in our state's classrooms. This exhibition showcases work by Arkansas students from kindergarten through 12th grade. This year, more than 1,000 works in a wide variety of media were entered by teachers or instructors from schools. Faulkner County Music Festival 10 Celebration Carnival at the River Market Pavilion: Everyone is welcome to attend the carnival in celebration of the 10th year of Faulkner Chamber Music Festival (a nonprofit based in LR that provides a music camp for kids). Enjoy the festivities with us at the River Market Pavilion. There is live music, games, a dunk tank, food trucks and more! Grand Opening at Tropical Smoothie Cafe in NLR: A grand opening event for a new Tropical Smoothie location celebrates with giveaways, product tastings, and $1.99 smoothies all day with purchase of a wrap, sandwich, flatbread or salad.
