Hot air balloons will fill the skies above Harrison this weekend.

The pools may be closed and school is in full swing, but this weekend is heating up. Celebrate that short work week with a weekend packed full of fun events ranging from the Hot Air Balloon State Championship to the Little Rock Paper Airplane Festival at the Clinton Center. There’s something for everyone!

21st Annual Arkansas Hot Air Balloon State Championship in Harrison: Bring your lawn chair, $5 for tethered rides (Sat. only) and enjoy an art festival on the square, a car show, a kids fest for CASA and much more. ACH Superhero Dash-N-Bash at Murray Park: Grab your capes and running shoes for a fundraising event to benefit the Hematology/Oncology Department at Arkansas Children's Hospital. The registration gives participants access to four superhero-themed obstacle courses - perfect for kids of all ages! Little athletes enjoy music, food, head shaving event, bounce houses and costume contest. There will be a victory walk across the Big Dam Bridge and a memorial balloon release. $30; ages 6-11 are $25; and 5 and under are free. "Tyke & Moppet" at the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre: Meet Tyke and Moppet, two lovable characters who explore an exciting new world together. Toddlers and preschoolers delight in this highly interactive, multi-sensory and whimsical journey through friendship. Young ones become part of the play as Tyke and Moppet romp around and among the audience. This is the perfect opportunity to introduce 2- to 5-year-olds to theatre! $10, $8 for members. Little Rock Paper Airplane Festival at Clinton Presidential Center & Park: The Little Rock Paper Airplane Festival is a family-friendly event celebrating the art of the paper airplane. The day's main event is the Paper Airplane Championship — an opportunity for youth and adults to test their ability to craft and fly the perfect paper airplane. Tickets are $15. Hot Springs Motorcycle Rally & Mustang Sally and Joe Nichols in Concert in Hot Springs: Rev your engines and have a ball during this unique festival that includes a motorcycle parade, vendor mall, field events, poker runs, bingo, a bike show, and concerts! Concert-lovers will want to see Mustang Sally (8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9) and Joe Nichols (8:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10). Andrew & Polly Concert at Pulaski Academy: Enjoy a musical afternoon with Central High School graduate Polly Hall and her husband.
