If you're already in the whole "Wake me up when September ends" mindset, we have a list of weekend events to perk you up. Do something good for your city by cleaning up at Pinnacle Mountain State Park, walk for the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers event at Murray Park or head downtown for the fifth annual Tinkerfest at the Museum of Discovery. 

Great Arkansas Cleanup at Pinnacle Mountain State Park: Celebrate the beauty of the Natural State by joining volunteers all over Arkansas in cleaning up our green spaces.  Place your mark at Pinnacle Mountain State Park by helping to beautify the first and only park in Arkansas located next to a major metropolitan area.  Contact the volunteer coordinator at the park for more information. Central Arkansas Walk Like MADD at Murray Park: Take up the fight by joining the Walk Like MADD event. This year, thousands of people in more than 60 cities around the nation will participate in 5k events to eliminate drunk driving from roadways. You can help MADD eliminate drunk driving by signing up for a Walk Like MADD event near you as a walker, team captain, or volunteer. You can even be involved without attending the event by signing up as a virtual walker or making a donation to another walker or team. Registration required. Sept. 17, 10 a.m. to noon. Fifth Annual Tinkerfest at Museum of Discovery: Tinkering takes over the MOD for an event with more than 40 hands-on, interactive activities that are sure to please visitors of all ages. Each activity engages children and adults, teaches visitors how everyday objects such as cars and computers work, and provides opportunities to explore the engineering and science behind building objects. $10; children ages 1-12 are $8; children under 1 and members are free. Big Catch at MacArthur Park: Head out to MacArthur Park for this fishing Derby, free food, games and prizes. The Big Catch Fishing Derby is an opportunity for families to spend quality time together bonding over fishing and family fun, all for free! Running of the Bulls at Clinton Presidential Center: The Running of the Bulls is bringing the fun of San Fermin in Pamplona, Spain to the River Market District, but with a twist. The Girls Rollin in the South (GRITS) roller derby league is participating as event bulls, providing fun and excitement as they chase runners heading down President Clinton Avenue. Enjoy event festivities: streaming music from the Heartbeat 106.7, photobooth, bounce houses and firetruck rides for children. Sept. 17, registration begins at 8 a.m., kid's race (up to age 12) is at 8:45 a.m., and adults run at 9:30 a.m. Discounted registration for those who register in advance.
