Calling all high school seniors: it’s time to apply for scholarships! If you’re the science type then this is money in the bank — literally.

The second year of this annual competition will an award of $1,500, a $500 increase compared to last year’s prize.

Scholarship applicants must be Garland county residents who are currently graduating high school in order to pursue a science-related degree plan. Applicants will be selected based on their GPA, leadership qualities, and their extra-curricular and volunteer activities.

The deadline for applications is Friday, Oct. 14 and the recipient will be notified in the beginning of November.

The second annual Mid-America Science Scholarship winner will be presented at the 17th Annual Taste of the Holidays taking place on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Mid-America Science Museum from 6-9 p.m.
