Chenal Valley Montessori School has begun offering classes in English as a second language to struggling students from other countries. Chenal Valley Montessori, which like many other private schools in Little Rock has a number of students from other nations, will identify eligible students by assessing their verbal and writing skills, the school said.

The teacher is trained in teaching English as a second language and has a master’s degree and certification in special education. The school offers a multicultural atmosphere and the Montessori method to benefit students at all levels.

The school is also starting a new pilot program for teenagers, focusing on those who have experienced negative situations like bullying and social isolation. The course, which will be limited to four students, will challenge them academically in a program that embraces philosophy, psychology and the responsibility of each individual in caring for the environment and helping others. There will be no tuition charge for the pilot program, and callers can get more information at 868-6030
