Cooking is a great way to save money and ensure that families eat healthy, but it's easy to get tired of the same dishes each week. That's why cookbooks and handed-down recipes are such  great resources.

If your dinner routine is feeling a little stale, then head to the Dee Brown Library's Cookbook Expo and Recipe Swap from 6-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23.

Jennifer Perren, kitchen educator for Dee Brown Library, says that she wanted to hold the event to bring attention to the library's collection of cookbooks in anticipation for a new teaching kitchen that is in the works.

"Cooking at home is a great way to eat healthy and save money," Perren said. "However, there are barriers that you may face to home cooking. You may not have a lot of time, it is too expensive or maybe your kids are picky eaters. Sometimes a good cookbook is all it takes to get you started and at the library you can find the right one to address your specific needs."

The expo features the library's best cookbooks on display and handouts that explain common cookbook jargon. Everyone that attends is encouraged to bring their own recipes from home to share. For more information, call (501) 568-7494 or visit the library's website.
