Kids' love for music can help spiral them into careers in the arts and it's been shown that music ignites development and life skills. But rather than playing a classical music CD on repeat, there are great ways to experience kid-friendly performances live.

Get an early start on the weekend and take the kids out to see a fairytale performed by an actor with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra illustrating the story through music. Peter and the Wolf is performed at 7 p.m. March 9 at St. James United Methodist Church.

Courtney Bennett narrates as Geoffrey Robson conducts the orchestra. The program opens with Simple Symphony by Benjamin Britten and is followed by Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev.

Student and active military tickets are $10 and general admission is $25. For more information or to purchase tickets, call (501) 666-1761 or visit the Symphony's website.
