Lexie Holley poses in costume as Rapunzel.

A classic fairy tale comes to life on stage when the curtains open for "Rapunzel." The play runs  April 28-May 14 at the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre.

The classic story centers on a girl with beautiful long hair who is trapped high in a castle tower. The show promises beautiful songs for families to enjoy as well.

Rapunzel receives anything her heart desires birthday after birthday, gift after gift—until the day she asks for freedom. On that day, the woman who calls herself “mother” reveals her true nature, locking Rapunzel away in a tower. Enjoy this heart-swelling musical as Rapunzel of the enchanted tresses discovers the song that will teach her to fly—the song called love.

Canvas at the Arkansas Arts Center will host a dinner before the opening-night performance of Rapunzel. The restaurant is open 5–7 p.m. on April 28 and a reception follows the show in the Lower Lobby of the theatre.

Showtimes are Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12.50 for general admission and $10 for Arkansas Arts Center members.
