Being a cowboy or settler is sometimes a fantasy for kids. Movies and TV often immerse people in the atmosphere of a different time. How great would it be to walk through those settings in real life?

From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. April 28 and 29 families can take a step into a realistic settlement that replicates early plantation life in Scott, Arkansas. The Scott Connections Rendezvous brings together reenactors and vendors to send people into the past at the Scott Settlement.

Settlement staff is booked with school tours on those days, but families can go on self-guided tours and look through the wares for sale. A muzzleloading trap shoot and tomahawk throw are scheduled for noon on April 29. Admission is $3 per person, parking at the settlement is free and children 6 and younger get in free.

For more information, visit the settlement's website. The Early Arkansaw Reenactors Association organizes the event. The settlement is located at 15525 Alexander Road in Scott.
