So you've heard about the eclipse, but you really don't know much about the science behind it or what exactly will be happening on Monday, Aug. 21.

The Museum of Discovery is here to help.

The continental U.S. will experience a total solar eclipse from coast to coast for the first time in 99 years and there's a lot to learn. So the museum is hosting an "eclipnic" from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the day of the eclipse.

Guesets are invited to bring a lunch or purchase pizza from Damgoode Pies in the museum as they learn about the once-in-a-century event. There will be hands-on activities and education for kids and adults and attendees will all receive a pair of eclipse glasses. Admission is $5 per person or free for museum members.

Once you've learned about the science behind the eclipse, join the group and witness the spectacular happening at 1:18 p.m. by the river. For more information about the "eclipnic," click here.
