All aboard!

After offering free trolley rides from June through August, Rock Region Metro is extending its Rock the Rails promotion through the end of 2017.

According to Jarod Varner, Rock Region Metro's executive director, there was a 33 percent increase in ridership this summer and the goal is for that to continue through December.

The trolleys are a great way to take a break from walking and explore the city — all in the comfort of air conditioning (or heat, come winter). The fare was previously $1 per person.

The trolleys run on a 3.4 mile route in downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock. The ridership guidelines do say, however, that riders must ride "with a purpose." That means no aimless circles around the city for hours.

A route map and schedule for the trolleys is available here.

Not sure where you should go on the trolley? There's a list of attractions accesbile by trolley available here. Family-friendly options include the Museum of Discovery, Heifer International, the Clinton Presidential Center and more!
