A tree house even bigger than your own house? It just might be.

After nearly a year of construction, Garvan Woodland Gardens is ready to unveil its new $1 million tree house in the Evans Children's Adventure Garden.

The three-story structure is suspended within a group of pines and oaks and is accessible from the ground or from the overhead boardwalk.

To celebrate its opening, Garvan Gardens is hosting its first ever Celebrate Summer day on Saturday, June 30.

Beginning at 9 a.m., visitors can enter the new tree house, its fanciful Root Plaza and a newly renovated circular bridge in the Children’s Garden. Children’s craft booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and are included with admission. Kids can enjoy face painting, worm farming and leaf rubbing.

The Children's Garden also features a 12-foot waterfall, a man-made cave, a bridge constructed from wrought-iron "Cedar tree branches," a series of wading pools and more. Parents can enjoy a bird’s eye view of their children at play from a 450-foot long, 20-foot tall elevated walkway.

It is about a quarter-mile walk from the Welcome Center to the Children’s Garden area. For those who do not want to walk, there will be a tree house trolley available. Visitors may purchase a wristband for $5 each and ride all day until 5 p.m.

Admission is $15 for adults, $5 for ages 4-12, and free for ages 0-3. Well-behaved dogs on a short, non-retractable leash are $5 each.
