Mission Statement

Sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, Mount St. Mary Academy develops young women with a moral and intellectual foundation rooted in Catholic tradition. Mercy-minded and college-prepared, our students meet the future with wisdom, compassion and integrity.

School History

Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1851 at the request of Arkansas’ first Catholic bishop, Mount St. Mary Academy adheres to the Sisters’ belief that “nothing can be more productive of good to society than the careful instruction of women.”

Transformative Education

Mount St. Mary is more than a private, college-preparatory high school. It’s a sisterhood of intelligent young women of faith and vision. Students are challenged by teachers committed to excellence, nurtured by a caring community and encouraged to discover their unique talents.

Learning Environment

Our supportive, yet challenging, all-girl learning environment – the only one of its kind in the state – empowers young women to build confidence while growing academically and spiritually.

Tradition of Service

All students participate in a yearlong service learning program during their junior year, through which they regularly contribute 7,500 hours of hands-on service to more than 25 community organizations.

Enhanced Curriculum

AP Capstone Diploma and concurrent credit programs drive students to excel, develop important skills for success and offer opportunities for college credit.

Technology

Our 1:1 Chromebook program, state-of-the-art classroom technology and enhanced Media Center allow students to collaborate and share information quickly and effectively with their peers and teachers while gaining technical proficiency needed for college and the world beyond.
