We’re feeling extra thankful for all the organizations that devote their time to kids with special needs. So this month, we’re dedicating our calendar section to sharing how Little Rock families can participate in a few of their upcoming events. Let’s all put our gratitude in action as we celebrate these nonprofits that need our help now more than ever.

Easterseals Arkansas: Art & Soul (Hybrid Event)

Easterseals Arkansas is dedicated to providing services, education, outreach and advocacy for people with disabilities in our community. This year one of their biggest fundraisers, Art & Soul, will be a hybrid event consisting of a live stream, an online auction and public art viewings. Families can view live auction art and silent auction pieces in select stores at Easterseals Arkansas’ partner Pleasant Ridge Town Center.

Dates: Live auction viewings will start mid-October, the streaming event will take place Nov. 12.

Community Connections: Good Night (Hybrid Event)

Good Night supports Community Connections’ free extracurricular activities for children with special needs and the support they offer for their families. With COVID-19 regulations, the in-person event will be limited to Good Night sponsors only. Little Rock families can still to check out the auction items and bid/participate remotely at maskup.givesmart.com.

Families can also sponsor or donate an auction item for the event by emailing courtney@communityconnectionsar.org.

Camp Aldersgate: Drive-Thru Fish Fry

Camp Aldersgate provides year-round camp experiences for people who have medical, physical and intellectual special needs. To support their 2021 programming, the camp is revamping their annual Fish Fry to a drive-thru event. You have two options: you can order online before the event or order the day of. Either way, you’re supporting campers and providing a delicious Sunday lunch for your family.

Arkansas Children’s Hospital: Virtual Race for a Healthier Tomorrow

The Race for a Healthier Tomorrow was originally scheduled for April 2020. The race planners have rescheduled and transformed this second annual event into a virtual run. Lace up your running shoes to boost your family’s health while supporting ACH’s promise of a healthier tomorrow for the children of Arkansas. Check out some family-friendly 5K training tips and a profile of race chair Kristen Saffa.

Date: Nov. 7

Location: Virtual, families can get their miles in on their favorite trails.

Register: $25 for adults 18+, $10 for children 5-17, $5 for children 4 and under


ACCESS Schools: 14th Annual Bingo Bash Presented by Encore Bank

Bingo Bash is a night of food, fun and, of course, bingo. The event supports ACCESS in building brighter futures for individuals with special needs.
