The City of North Little Rock has partnered with the North Little Rock School District to conduct “Finding Safe Routes to School” walks around three more elementary schools in April and May – Amboy, Boone Park, and Meadow Park. Lakewood Elementary conducted their walk last Saturday (April 6).

By actively walking the area around each school, these events will gather public input on improving connections between neighborhoods and school campuses to encourage students, parents, and residents to walk, bike or wheel to and from the schools.

The “Finding Safe Routes to School” walks will help North Little Rock city and school officials determine where most children are walking from and what kind of facility or street improvements are needed to ensure students’ and parents’ safety and comfort.  Residents are encouraged to join the walks and to share their ideas and suggestions.

NLR’s “Finding Safe Routes to School” walks will take place on Saturdays from 2 – 4 p.m. at the following elementary schools:

  • April 20 – Amboy Elementary, 2400 West 58th St.
  • May 4 – Boone Park Elementary, 1400 Crutcher St.
  • May 18 – Meadow Park Elementary, 400 Eureka Gardens Rd.

Participants will meet in each school cafeteria at 2 p.m. on the walk dates.  Light refreshments will be served after the walks.  No RSVP is required.
