Pumpkin patches aren't the only pick-your-own options in October; start a tasty new tradition and visit an Arkansas apple orchard with your crew. Here are three family farms where you can have a bushel of family fun:

Collins Round Mountain Orchard in Conway

This popular you-pick farm in Conway offers a variety of peaches, nectarines and veggies throughout the summer months, and caps off the season with Gala apples. Depending on the growing season, apple harvest begins in August and continues into October. Call their info line for a message—updated daily—of which fruits will be available for picking.

Cox Berry Farm & Nursery in Clarksville

This family-owned farm in Clarksville has been in business for more than 40 years; families can choose from many Pick-Your-Own experiences, starting in the spring with strawberries and ending in late fall with pumpkins. Apple season kicks off in September and goes through October, with several varieties ripening at different times. In October, you’ll be able to savor Granny Smith, Fuji and Gold Rush, to name a few. Pick-your-own apples are $30/bushel.

Drewry Farm & Orchards in Dover
