The Arkansas State Fair -- offering entertainment, rides (including a full-size roller coaster), livestock shows, a petting zoo, pony rides, exhibits, talent competitions, beauty competitions, eats and drinks, and daily promotions -- will continue through Sunday (Oct. 20).

Deggeller Attractions of Stuart, Fla., will bring the midway attractions to the fair once again.  Fairgoers looking for exciting and thrilling carnival rides are sure to be pleased with the selection of 65-plus rides.  Several new rides can be found on the Arkansas Federal Credit Union Midway, including Vertigo, a thrill ride that takes riders soaring 100 feet above the midway.   

The fair staff has scheduled another great lineup of entertainers to perform at the 2013 State Fair. The concert series is free with gate admission, but this year, they are offering special VIP seating for each show. Preferred concert seating tickets are available for $12 here.

Country legend Charlie Daniels and his band will take the stage, along with .38 Special, up-and-coming country music artist Josh Thompson, Night Ranger, R&B singer Ginuwine,  Johnny Gill and Everclear concludes the fair’s headliner concerts next Saturday, Oct. 19  All of these performances take place on the Wendy’s Main Stage.

The Arkansas State Fair will proudly present Ridin’ in the Rock when the Professional Bull Riders Tour (PBR) stampedes into Barton Coliseum on consecutive nights, Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19.  The PBR Touring Pro Division features up-and-coming bull riders as well as tour veterans competing to qualify for the PBR World Finals. 

It is not the State Fair without the smells and tastes of fair food.  Fairgoers will find all their favorites like corn dogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy, hamburgers and pizza.   The new Mega Burger will challenge even the heartiest eaters with a stack of four beef patties, five cheese slices, four strips of bacon, onion rings, chili, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions on a giant bun.  Other new food offerings include chicken-n-waffles, fried garlic mashed potatoes on a stick, fried ravioli; fried avocado on a stick, shrimp gumbo, Italian chicken parmesan sandwiches, Indian tacos, fried Klondike bars, and much more. Advance Purchase Ride Passes will be available at 77 participating Walgreens stores in Arkansas and redeemable for a one-day unlimited ride armband at the state fair. The special $22 pass can be redeemed at midway ticket booths any day of the fair, except Dollar Day on Monday, Oct. 14, and will save patrons three dollars. 

Patrons can also purchase advance gate admission for just $5.99 that will admit one adult, or pay only $2.99 for child and seniors gate admission.  Advance discount tickets may be purchased at Walgreens locations through tomorrow (Oct. 11). No discount tickets will be offered for sale after these dates.  

Regular daily admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children (ages 6 to 12) and senior adults (ages 60 and over) and free to children under six. Fairgrounds parking is $5 per vehicle.
