Raise money for Cystic Fibrosis at a great family event, the Great Strides walks. These walks are held in six different locations and on three different dates: Fort Smith and Benton on May 10, Little Rock and Jonesboro on May 17, and Hot Springs and Bentonville on September 6. Check in for all of the walks except Hot Spring begins at 9 a.m., with the walk beginning at 10 a.m. Check in at Hot Springs begins at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. Each of the walks are different lengths, anywhere from 2K-4K. The way money is raised for Great Strides is a little different from other walks. Instead of paying a registration fee, they ask that each team and walker set a goal and raise money through their families, friends, co-workers, business associates, neighbors, church members, and basically anyone else they know! They have family teams and corporate teams, youth groups, civic clubs, sororities and fraternities, groups of hospital staff; pretty much any kind of group that wants to form can do so, with the average team raising $1,000-2,000. People can sign up as teams or individual walkers, with the average walker raising $150. This great family-friendly event also includes music, entertainment, a kid's corner and food.
