Exciting news for youngsters who love music! The Central Arkansas Library System's extensive collection of books, DVDs and other items now includes a collection of musical instruments. That's right: You can now "check out" a full drum kit, bongos, congas, electric bass, electric guitar, amplifiers, cello, viola, violin, trombone, trumpet or coronet!

Donated by Searcy Ewell Jr., the collection of musical instruments will be available for check-out at the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children's Library & Learning Center. The instruments will be available for loan to children ages 5-17 who have a library card in good standing; the instruments can be kept for four weeks (28 days). A parent or guardian must sign the loan agreement for any borrower under 15 years old.

Long range plans for the collection include onsite programs, master classes and instrument lessons.

Anyone interested in donating additional instruments can call (501) 978-3877; considerations will include the condition of the instrument, repairs needed and storage constraints.
