Southern summer nights are the perfect escape from the hot days, especially when the River Market’s outdoor film series returns to the First Security Amphitheater.

The annual event will begin its 15th season on June 5. Every Wednesday at sundown in June and July, relax and enjoy award-winning films ranging from animated to action for all ages.

It's time to roll out the red picnic blanket because these are nine movies that the whole family is going to love.

Here's the 2019 lineup:

  • June 5: "Thor: Ragnarok" (PG-13)
  • June 12: "How to Train Your Dragon 3" (PG)
  • June 19: "Dumb & Dumber" (PG-13)
  • June 26: "Apollo 13"(PG)
  • July 3: "The Greatest Showman" (PG)
  • July 10: "The Sandlot" (PG)
  • July 17: "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story" (PG-13)
  • July 24: "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" (PG-13)
  • July 31: "The Help" (PG-13)

Families can bring pets and enjoy a picnic (no glass containers) at the park to enjoy movies under the stars. And don't forget the bug spray!

An adult must accompany all children under the age of 18 and an ID is required. The amphitheater will open an hour before film showings (around 7:30 p.m.) and movies with begin at sundown (around 8:30 p.m.) each Wednesday.
