Hello, summer! This weekend is going to be blazing hot but that doesn't mean you can't make the most of it. We've got eight events for you and if none of these suit your fancy, here are 10 water parks and splash pads where you can go cool down and relax with the whole family.

Friday

Alligator Feeding at Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center: Meet an alligator in person, watch the nature center's resident alligator feast on his favorite food and discover more about the largest reptile in Arkansas. Saturday

PK Cookout: Kids Hamburger Competition at War Memorial Stadium: Kids can compete in this burger grill off at War Memorial Stadium. The fun starts at 8 a.m. and registration is $29 per competitor. Contestants are required to bring buns and any ingredients required for their recipes. Two burgers will be submitted, one uncut to be judged on appearance and one quartered. Visit the website for more information.

2018 Bryant Kids Tri at Bishop Park: The eighth annual Bryant Kids Triathlon is designed for any child, ages 5-15, regardless of athletic ability or prior triathlon experience who likes to swim, bike and run. Kids can compete as individuals or make it a relay with a different team member doing each section of the triathlon. Kids' Fishing Derby at Pinnacle Mountain State Park: The pond has been stocked and the fish are ready to be caught! There will be a casting contest, free snacks and lots of prizes given away throughout the event including a special prize for the biggest fish caught. Bring your own bait and tackle. Contest from 8-10 a.m. is for kids 15 and under, but everyone is welcome to fish after 10 a.m. with a valid fishing license. Meet at the environmental education pond. Dad's Day at The Wonder Place: Hey Dads, give mom a few hours to grocery shop alone, fold laundry, read a book or just sit in silence. We are rewarding you by letting you dads for free the first Saturday of each month. The Wonder Place is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and more information is available here.

Wild About Reading at the Little Rock Zoo: From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., visit interactive stations filled with fun children’s activities and great books all while visiting the zoo’s amazing animals. Zoo visitors can also sign up for the library’s summer reading club that rewards readers for participating! Disney's Peter Pan at Painting with a Twist: Sign up for one-time only class inspired by Disney's Peter Pan. While painters of any age are welcome, this painting is recommended for ages 6 and up and parents are encouraged to participate as well. The class goes from noon-2 p.m. and costs $35 per person. Recycle Bikes for Kids at The Green Corner Store: Stop by from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. with any questions you have about volunteering for an awesome cause, bike repair and more. Watch a demo on changing a bike tire and donate your old bikes. Bikers acan get their water bottles refilled and sample kombucha for free. Check out the Facebook event page for more details. FREE!
