Rock Region Metro is offering free trolley rides for all of 2019, starting with an early holiday gift: fare-free rides launch Friday, Dec. 21!

Through the end of the year and through 2019, the trolleys, which typically charge a $1 fare, will be completely free. The tourist attractions are also a great way for locals to get around the city and visit multiple places in a heated or air conditioned space.

The trolleys run on a 3.4 mile route in downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock. The ridership guidelines do say, however, that riders must ride "with a purpose." That means no aimless circles around the city for hours.

A route map and schedule for the trolleys is available here.

Not sure where you should go on the trolley? There's a list of attractions accesbile by trolley available here. Family-friendly options include the Museum of Discovery, Heifer International, the Clinton Presidential Center, Dickey-Stephens Park and more!

According to Rock Region Metro Executive Director Charles D. Frazier, when they tested free streetcar rides in 2017, monthly ridership increased more than 30 percent.
