Paint & Storytime at The Painted Pig Studio: It's important to build creative expression at an early age, and just getting a paintbrush in your kids' hands is the first step! Civil War Living History Day at MacArthur Museum of Military History: Head to the grounds behind the museum for an educational look at life of a Civil War Soldier. There will be cannon and musket demonstrations and a skirmish starting at 1 p.m. as well as programs on the life of a typical Civil War soldier happening all day from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Click here for more info. Canoe Float at Big Maumelle River Boat Launch: Enjoy a guided tour of the scenic Big Maumelle River with a park interpreter. Paddle up and down the river in a canoe and see leaves beginning to change, wildlife in and around the water and more! Cost is $40 per canoe. Moscow Ballet "Nutcracker" Auditions at Dancers' Corner: Youth ages 6-18 can audition to be party children, small mice, snowflakes, Russian snow maidens and other roles in "The Nutcracker" through Moscow Ballet’s community engagement "Dance-with-Us" program. Auditions are free although there may be a casting and/or rehearsal fee and dress rehearsal is on stage with the Russian company the day of the performance (Dec. 26). Westoberfest at Wildwood Park for the Arts: Westoberfest is a brand new family-friendly afternoon and evening of fun for the community! FestiVille at Dupree Park in Jacksonville: The seventh annual FestiVille features carnival rides and games, live entertainment, concessions, a volleyball tournament, petting zoo, kids area and more! Fall Tea Party at The Castle on Stagecoach: Take a horse-drawn carriage ride to join Cinderella, Beauty and Sleeping Beauty for a delightful tea party featuring a musical performance, a meet and greet with the princesses, a full English tea service and more. MacArthur Park German Biergarten: Get in the Oktoberfest spirit with live music from Arkansas Accordion Association and enjoy beer and brats all afternoon. Dogs are welcome! Admission for adults includes games, three beer tickets and a brat plate and is $10 per person. Soda, snacks and lemonade are provided for kids.
