Peppa Pig is coming to life on stage right here in Little Rock — all thanks to actress and puppeteer Emily Killian, who voices the title character.

Killian is a former middle and high school teacher, and while it may seem like a stark change to go from classroom to the theater, Killian says that "being a classroom teacher is basically writing, directing, producing, and starring in a one-person show seven times a day."

After engaging a classroom full of students, Killian now entertains an auditorium full of kid in the prodcution of "Peppa Pig Live! Peppa Pig's Adventure." The show, which hits the stage in the Robinson Center at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30, follows Peppa on a camping trip in the woods with her friends George, Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep and Gerald Giraffe.

We got the scoop from Killian on what she loves about the show and why she thinks kids enjoy it so much.

Little Rock Family: What is your favorite thing about the Peppa Pig Live show?

Emily Killian: I love it all! Ever since I can remember I’ve gotten my deepest joy from making people laugh. My heart just bubbles up and overflows when I see someone smile or guffaw because of something I said or did. I love getting to make people laugh and bring joy into the world, and that is exactly what "Peppa’s Big Adventure" does every day. Even thinking back to our 10 day rehearsal period, the glee in the room every day was palpable. I honestly can’t say whether the best part has been learning the incredible music, creating magic with puppets, or meeting the amazing minds and hearts working on this show with me. Because it’s all been the best! Being among a group of crazy, talented humans who just radiate love, silliness, and kindness is such a blessing and I cannot wait to share what we are creating with all of you!

LRF: Do you have a favorite memory from this tour so far?

EK: The little girl who stole my heart who ran right up to us during the Campfire Meet and Greet after the show in Frederick, Maryland and said, “I’ve been dreaming of this my whole life and now my dreams came true!” We all just melted on the spot.

LRF: What do you think little ones will learn or enjoy at this performance?

EK: Families coming to the show can expect a gosh-darn hoot and a half! It really is so much fun; my fellow castmates and I end every day marveling to ourselves that we get to be a part of this amazing phenomenon. There is so much joy, wonder, and silliness in this show and the puppetry is truly magical. Little ones and the grownups lucky enough to join them will be engaged and thrilled throughout the show. We will learn what it’s like to be nervous on the first day of school, to make new friends, to experience the wonder of nature, to work as a team, and of course to jump in muddy puddles! I really can’t wait to share this show with you and all your readers in Little Rock!
