Museum of Discovery and Baldwin & Shell are encouraging play, teamwork and hands-on learning with a cardboard construction contest. If you’ve got time on your hands and some extra cardboard boxes (and who doesn’t these days?), you can join in.

"Tinkering and building with cardboard encourages creativity, problem-solving, team building and discovery through trial and error,” says Mikahla Denney, Museum of Discovery's Tinkering Studio manager. Ready to wield tape, scissors and a healthy dose of problem-solving and imagination? We've got details! Just submit pictures or videos of your cardboard creations online by 8 p.m. April 8. Here are your options:

  • Post on Facebook at /MuseumofDiscovery or direct message the museum

  • Tag the museum and Baldwin & Shell on Instagram using @arkmod and @baldwinandshellcon along with #arkmodconstructs

  • Tag the museum on Twitter using @arkmod and #arkmodconstructs

  • Email to kthornton@museumofdiscovery.org

A team of judges from Baldwin & Shell and Museum of Discovery will select finalists for a public vote. The winning family will receive a family membership to the Museum of Discovery for five people and a private tour of a Baldwin & Shell construction site! What are you waiting for? Get to building!*

*Don’t forget to wash your hands often during the construction process.
