Brace yourselves: Back-to-school prep is officially underway this weekend! Many families will be taking advantage of the Arkansas Sales Tax Holiday on Aug. 1-2 by shopping for uniforms and new clothes, sports equipment, school supplies and more.

In addition to saving on school essentials, families can receive free immunizations, medical screenings and more at St. Mark Baptist Church. And don't forget to make a little time for play: The Harry Potter Movie Marathon screens the final two films of the series on Saturday and the Arkansas Travelers will be hitting homeruns all weekend at Dickey-Stephens Park.

Back-to-School Health Fair at St. Mark Baptist Church: Get ready for kids to go back to school at this event for students and parents. Summer Musical Theatre Intensive Select II Presents: "Really Rosie" at The Rep: Members of the summer theater program for students display their skills in this lively performance about Rosie, the sassiest kid on her block of Brooklyn's Avenue P. Rosie entertains herself and her friends by acting out show biz fantasies, notably directing and starring in an Oscar-winning movie. Performances are 1 & 7 p.m. Aug. 1. Price: $10. Harry Potter Marathon at CALS Ron Robinson Theater: The Central Arkansas Library System has been marathoning the Harry Potter movies all week long, and on Saturday you can catch the final two films of the series: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts I & II (both films are rated PG-13). The marathon has been in celebration of Harry Potter's birthday on July 31. Entry to each film is $7. Arkansas Travelers vs. Tulsa Drillers at Dickey Stephens Park: Don't miss this series of games as the Travs take on the Drillers. Hooray for Herps Weekend at Pinnacle Mountain State Park: Join park interpreters and local herpetologists to celebrate some of Arkansas’ coolest creatures: reptiles and amphibians! Programs, crafts and activities are offered throughout the weekend, including an introduction to alligators, snakes, turtles, frogs and more. Aug. 1-2.
