The school year is in full-swing, but that doesn’t mean the learning needs to be confined to Monday-Friday. In fact, the Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs has class offerings for everyone from your Boy Scout to your middle school daughter.

Instill a love for the STEM field in your kiddo by signing them up for a weekend science workshop series with Girls in STEM. Or brush up on your tech skills with the Techno Gramp Camp. And don’t forget the boys — each third Saturday of the month is dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America.

Girls in STEM takes place on the first Saturday of each month, with the next one focused on “Green Energy” scheduled on Oct. 1. The classes are suitable for ages 8 and up.

The second Saturday of each month will host the museum’s new Techno Gramp Camp workshop. Classes include subjects pertaining to social media, coding, and other technical subject matter with the next class on Oct. 8.

The third Saturday of each month at Mid-America Science Museum is dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America, where the class covers key points regarding science from the scouting handbook. Scouts will have a hands-on opportunity to perform experiments with air and thermal pollution, soil erosion, and studies on native plant life that will help in achieving badge requirements.

Classes are $5 per participant, plus general admission. To register in advance or for questions regarding educational programming, visit the museum website, call (501) 767-3461 ext. 115 or email Audreyp@midamericamuseum.org. Advanced registration is not required.
