The basic subjects for elementary schools are math, English, social studies and science. But according to many experts, coding will soon be among these core studies for young kids.

Since your child's classroom may not cover it yet, kids can get a taste of coding at the Laman Library's Coding Class on alternating Tuesdays from 6:15-7:15 p.m at the main branch.

Elementary age children and families can spend an hour doing coding activities on March 14 and 28. Computer literacy is emerging as an essential life skill in the U.S. and the job market is becoming more and more competitive for the high-paying industry of computer science.
