This month, we’ve got a spooky event, an award-winning musical and a new southern restaurant to check out. Plus, the annual Festival of Wines is happening in October. And if you’re really needing a break, why not go on a few dates this month? The more the merrier — and there’s plenty to do in this busy city.

1. Festival of Wines

Baseball season is over, so Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock is being put to good use for another purpose: the Festival of Wines. On Oct. 5 from 6-8:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy hundreds of wine samplings and food from more than 15 local restaurants. The event is hosted by the American Heart Association and tickets are $60 when purchased in advance. For more details, see the events section of AHA-Arkansas' Facebook page

2. Kinky Boots

This award-winning Broadway is hitting the stage from Oct. 13-15 at the Robinson Performance Hall. The inspirational story follows a struggling shoe factory owner who works to turn his business around with the help from Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. Tickets range from $28-$77 plus taxes and fees and more information is available at CelebrityAttractions.com.

3. Boo at the Zoo Adult Night

The Little Rock Zoo isn’t just for kids. On Oct. 20 from 6-9 p.m., head to this 21 and over event and get in the Halloween spirit. Guests trick-or-treat for fun libations and candy and enjoy haunted attractions such as the Haunted Train, Haunted House, rides, games and other activities. There’s also a costume contest, live music and food trucks to peruse.

Tickets are $25 for zoo members and $30 for non-members. Head to LittleRockZoo.com/Boo for more information.

4. New Restaurant: Southern Table

This unique destination opened in August in the former Kent Walker Artisan Cheese space at 323 South Cross in Little Rock. The restaurant’s tagline is “Food is Meant to be Shared.” Its "boards and bites" menu is full of seasonal cheeses, cured meats, preserves, signature pimento, specialized terrines and other charcuterie board delights. Guests will also have their pick of local brews and wines. Southern Table is open Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. See the Facebook page for all the delicious details.
