While you're back-to-school shopping for your children, pick up some extra supplies to donate to these central Arkansas school supplies drives.

The NEXT Generation Young Professionals group hosts this drive to benefit youngsters who take part in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas mentoring program. Through Aug. 2, you can drop by the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce office to donate standard supplies, including No. 2 pencils, Crayola 24-packs of crayons, Fiskars scissors, Kleenex boxes, hand sanitizer, 8-count standard color markers, wide-ruled loose leaf paper, and blue, red and black ink pens. Visit this West Little Rock shopping center from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Aug. 3 to donate gently-used school clothes and gear. There will be a Goodwill drop-off located in The Promenade Courtyard. For more info, click here.

This local organization that provides prevention services, treatment and more for children and their families, will be collecting school supplies for the its Residential and Youth Shelter clients, as well as the students in the Day Treatment School. Supplies can be dropped off 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Fri. at the Centers for Youth & Families office, located at 5905 Forest Place, Ste. 200. For more info about CFYF, click here.

Stop by Pulaski Heights Baptist Church's table at this Saturday market in Hillcrest to donate paper, pencils, notebooks, crayons or $12 for help with school uniforms. The donations will go to children in the Delta region of southern Arkansas, and will be accepted through Aug. 10. For more info, click here.

Hope's Closet & Pantry, a nonprofit serving Cabot residents in need, will be hosting its first ever drive for school supplies for local schools and students. The organization will be taking donations from 7 a.m.-noon Aug. 9 & 10 in the Cabot Walmart parking lot. Accepted items include pencils, lined paper, construction paper, dry erase markers and erasers, glue, markers, colored pencils, permanent markers, rulers, folders, hand sanitizer, tissue, paper towels and backpacks. The Junior League of Little Rock funds this yearly program through signature events, such as Holiday House, as well as additional funding from corporate sponsors. Stuff the Bus assists over 3,000 elementary-age students in the Little Rock School District every year. On July 26, volunteers will load trucks with supplies and deliver the goodies to schools such as Baseline, Chicot, Geyer Springs and others. Help St. Mark Baptist Church stock up on school supplies for their 2013 Back-to-School Health Fair, to be held on Aug. 3. The event will provide free physicals, vision and dental screenings, BMI, blood pressure and heart rate checks, immunizations, and backpacks and school supplies.   • Target Back-to-School Shopping Spree

On Wednesday, July 24, 65 central Arkansas children-in-need will be able to go back-to-school shopping with an $81 Target GiftCard. But the children, all of whom will be chosen by The Salvation Army, each need a volunteer chaperone to help them pick out their supplies! The Salvation Army is recruiting chaperone shoppers for Little Rock, North Little Rock and Bryant store locations. The staff at Arkansas' largest domestic violence shelter has gathered 30 backpacks for the 30 children utilizing the organization's shelter and transitional housing. But they need help filling the backpacks will all the necessary supplies for a successful school year. From now until Aug. 8, donations can be dropped off at Tulips in the Heights (5817 Kavanaugh Blvd.) from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Sat.
