Visitors to the Museum of Discovery will learn the secrets of a mysterious Mayan tomb in the new exhibit called Mystery of the Mayan Medallion. The exhibit opens this Saturday, May 24, just in time for Riverfest weekend and Memorial Day.

The immersive exhibit takes visitors on a trip to a dig site in Palenque, Mexico, where a fictional archeological team has mysteriously disappeared. Kids learn about the archeologists' investigations -- a rumor that a priceless jade medallion is buried in the temple. Youngsters will then follow the clues left behind by the team to uncover the mystery (and the medallion!).

In hands-on activity stations, kids will:

  • experience what it's like to be an archaeologist, biologist, or astromathematician
  • explore the world of the ancient Maya
  • have fun learning about science, language and history

To celebrate the opening of Mystery of the Mayan Medallion, Little Rock Family is giving away four museum passes on our Facebook page today (May 20). The contest begins at 10 a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m. A winner will be announced at 4 p.m. Visit us at Facebook.com/LittleRockFamily for details on how to enter!
