Earlier this summer, photographer Mauren Kennedy caught up with families who were out & about at the Juneteenth celebration. The annual event celebrates the end of slavery in the United States, and is a fun-filled event rooted in history but focused on the future.

The block party outside of the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center included tons of family fun, including live music, poetry readings, children's activities, food trucks, and nonprofit and vendor booths.
