Schoolhouse Rock—the Emmy Award-winning cartoon that made studying civics and diagramming sentences fun and memorable—will spring to life on the stage this March! Parents, we're sure you can still sing along to the classic tunes that taught grammar, science, math and history. This March, the next generation will learn those same songs in a theater production at the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre!

The theater musical "Schoolhouse Rock Live!" was originally adapted and produced for the stage by Theatre BAM in Chicago. The production brings back educational favorites like "Just a Bill," "Conjunction Junction," "Interplanet Janet," "Three Is a Magic Number" and more.

Interestingly, both the original television show and the play adaptation have connections to the Natural State—Robert Dorough, born in Cherry Hill, Ark., wrote and performed many of the original songs for the cartoon and the play. And Scott Ferguson, a native of Sherwood, Ark. and alumnus of the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre, is the original director and author of "Schoolhouse Rock Live!"

"Schoolhouse Rock Live!" plays March 4-25 at the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Fri. and 2 p.m. Sat. & Sun. For spring break week, special weekday performances will be held at 2 p.m. March 22-25. (Teachers: Special school performances will be held for field trip groups March 4-18; click here to request reservations for your school group.)

Plus, parents who are looking for a date night can attend Schoolhouse on the Rocks, an adults-only singalong performance on March 10. A pre-show reception at 6 p.m. will feature themed cocktails, a cereal and Hiland Dairy milk bar with breakfast treats and other snacks you may remember from your childhood! Tickets for Schoolhouse on the Rocks are $20, members $10.

Tickets to "Schoolhouse Rock Live" are $12.50, $10 for Arkansas Arts Center members, $10 per person for groups of 10 or more. The "Pay What You Can" preview performance will be held at 7 p.m. March 3. Tickets for the preview performance must be purchased in person at the Arkansas Arts Center (501 E. 9th St.) from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Stephens Inc. Visitors Center, or from 6-6:45 p.m. at the Children's Theatre Box Office, Lower Lobby Level. The maximum ticket purchase of six tickets per person.
