Spring Break Workshop at the Arkansas Arts Center­­­ -- During this two-day program for children ages 6-9, students will have art experiences with painting, printmaking, clay, paper maché, and other art mediums. Students will also enjoy a matinee performance of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" in the Children’s Theatre. Tuition includes cost of materials and admission to the play. Instrumental Petting Zoo at Clinton Presidential Center -- Students in grades pre-k-5 can touch and play string, woodwind and brass instruments, and will meet musicians from the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Then visit the "Presidential Pets" exhibit or let older children (ages 11 and up) explore "Spies, Traitors, and Saboteurs: Fear and Freedom in America." Spring break activities are free, however general admission fees to view exhibits apply. Naturalist Camp at Wildwood Park for the Arts -- Central Arkansas Master Naturalists lead this day camp featuring outdoor projects and artistic experiences. Campers ages 7-11 will enjoy a week of fun hiking Wildwood's winding trails, playing outdoor games, and engaging in hands-on instruction of lake ecology, trees, reptiles and insects native to Arkansas. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; drop-off opens at 8:30 a.m. $180 for full week; $45 per day. School's Out Day Camp at River City Gymnastics -- Kids ages 5-12 spend 30-minute increments at activity stations, playing on the wooden pirate ship, practicing on the tumble track, making arts and crafts, playing sports and more. Spring Break at Arkansas Skatium -- Spring break at the skatium brings a new theme each day: Manic Monday includes a special ice skating exhibition featuring local skaters (2-2:15 p.m.); wear your western attire on Texas Tuesday for $2 off ultimate admission; watch it snow indoors and build a snowman on the ice rink on Winter Wednesday; wear sunglasses, hats and other beacy attire for $2 off ultimate admission on Tropical Thursday; and get two-for-one admission on Friendship Friday. Spring Break Camp at Good Earth Learning Center in Austin -- This new seed-to-table learning center is located on a family farm right outside of Cabot. Campers ages 5-12 will engage in active outdoor experiences, including: feeding chickens and gathering eggs; taking care of lambs; holding baby angora bunnies and learning how to spin their wool; creating compost with the help of worms; planting vegetables; looking for insects, birds and wildlife on nature walks; and identifying trees. 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Mon.-Fri. $199 for the full week. Spring Break Camp at Little Rock Athletic Club -- Kids ages 3-12 stay active in the Down Under Center, where they'll play relay games and sports, make arts and crafts, and swim. Spring Break Programming at Petit Jean State Park -- During Arkansas’s spring break, as well as the weekends before and after, Petit Jean State Park is expected to be a popular destination for guests who want safe, outdoor, family-friendly places to play and make memories. Park interpreters will lead numerous kid-friendly programs and activities at various park locations throughout the week and weekends, and also plan to offer daily programming during the two preceding weeks, to accommodate spring break visitors from other states. This will include programs related to the theme “Celebrating Trees” on the dates leading up to and including Arbor Day in Arkansas, March 14-17. Spring Planters Youth Retreat at Plantation Agriculture Museum in Scott­­­ -- Children ages 8-12 and their parents can enjoy a five-day retreat full of activities. Spring Break in the Craft Village at The Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View -- The entire family can start the morning with a guided walking tour of the Craft Village at 10 a.m. Then, attend the Little One's Storytime in the Gift Shop at 11:30 a.m., and visit the Bessie Moore deck at noon for Spinning Tales. "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" at the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre­­­ -- Based on Aesop's fable and written by Alan Keith Smith, a little shepherd boy is tired of watching the flock of sheep all day and wants some excitement in his life. So he decides to make things interesting by shouting for help from a wolf just for his own amusement.
