Kids want to discover their world right from the start. That’s why Pinnacle Mountain State Park is offering nature classes for children ages 3-5.

Central Arkansas Master Naturalists lead two classes each month for "Little Wild Ones" at the park’s visitor center.

The sit-on-the-floor sessions focus on topics chosen specifically for young children, such as how the food web works and taking care of the Earth.

Classes start at 10 a.m. and last 45 minutes. Free craft materials are provided for the first 20 kids to arrive, and it's strongly suggested that you call ahead to reserve a spot.

Parents may sign up for email announcements about upcoming classes at the first session they attend. Here is the schedule for the upcoming fall semester:

  • Sept. 5: Nature Hunt
  • Sept. 19: Skunks
  • Oct. 3: Hummingbirds
  • Oct. 17: Squirrels
  • Nov. 7: Vultures
  • Nov. 21: Fall Vegetation
  • Dec. 5: Hibernation
