Planning a date night can be hard. There’s already a to-do list before you even get out the door: call the babysitter, pick an outfit, make sure the kids are going to behave while you’re gone … the list seems to go on and on.

So possibly the last thing you want to do is figure what exactly you and your husband or wife are going to be doing on your night out. Same old burger place again? Nope. It’s time to try something new. That’s where Little Rock Family comes in.

A great date night gives you time to relax, talk and also to enjoy an activity together.

So here’s a delicious and fun Friday night we’ve planned just for you.

Dinner: Petit & Keet Bar & Grill

This new dining destination (it opened in May) is the perfect spot for dinner. It’s not over-the-top fancy but it’s classy, chic, modern and has a menu bursting with unique options and dishes.

Some menu highlights include hot chicken, Panko-crusted avocado, barbecue shrimp and rice grits, fried cauliflower and charred miso salmon. And if you’re not wanting to venture out of your comfort zone, you can always go for a classic burger.

With temperatures finally beginning to cool off, there is cozy outdoor seating available if you’d like to enjoy your dinner with some fresh air.

Petit and Keet is located at 1620 Market St. in Little Rock and more info is available at PetitandKeet.com.

Activity: Indoor Rock Climbing

So you had the burger for dinner and didn’t try anything new. Well, it’s time to get out of your comfort zone. Bring a change of clothes and head over to the Little Rock Climbing Center for one of their weekly Friday Cheap Date Nights. You and your partner can snag two day passes, gear rentals and belay lessons for $45 from 7-10 p.m.

The Little Rock Climbing Center features over 5,000 square feet of 30-foot textured climbing walls with angles for all abilities. There are also 10 auto-belay stations that do not require a partner or special training.

The Climbing Center is located at 12120 Colonel Glenn Road #7000 in Little Rock; find more info at LittleRockClimbingCenter.com.

Dessert: Loblolly Scoop Shop

You just worked hard at rock climbing for a couple hours. And you probably burned a lot of calories. You deserve a treat. So don’t worry — this last part of your date night is much easier.

Loblolly Creamery, formerly housed in the Green Corner Store, recently opened its own ice cream shop with more flavors and longer hours and if you haven’t been yet, now is your chance.

The shop has all the classic flavors as well as those you won’t find in the grocery store: coffee and cream, honey green tea, buttermilk and more. For more on the Scoop Shop, located at 1423 South Main Street in Little Rock, visit LoblollyCreamery.com.
