  • 1 pound macaroni

  • 4 tablespoons butter

  • 3 shallots, finely chopped

  • 5 tablespoons plain flour

  • 2 1/4 cups whole milk

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • ½ cup cream cheese

  • ½ cup cheddar, grated

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1 cup mozzarella, chopped into 36 chunks

To serve:

  • 3 x 12-pack assorted mini bread rolls

  • barbecue sauce (optional)
