Summertime and the livin' is...sweltering! But, you'll want to brave the heat for some of our event picks this weekend, which include the free North Little Rock Car & Air Show and a weekend full of Arkansas Travelers games. You can also relax in the air conditioning at Bass Pro Shops' free Family Summer Camp event or while enjoying a performance from the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre.

And, if you want to stay cool while enjoying the outdoors, head to a nearby splash pad or water park or take the family on float down the river

North Little Rock Car & Air Show at North Little Rock Airport: This annual air show features antique and custom-built airplanes and cars. In the air, you’ll see aerobatics and formation flying. The air show starts at noon, but there will be plenty to do and see before then. Plus, proceeds from concession sales will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. 9 a.m.-2 p.m. June 27. "The Goonies" at CALS Ron Robinson Theater: The Central Arkansas Library System's Ron Robinson Theater will show family-friendly films all summer, including this weekend’s screening of “The Goonies.” Introduce your kids to the 1985 comedy classic, in which a band of misfit kids come across an old treasure map and go searching for the riches. 2 p.m. June 27. $5. Family Summer Camp at Bass Pro Shops: The outdoor store kicks off summer with this annual, month-long event (June 27-July 26). Each child will receive a free lanyard and can earn pins for each 20-minute workshop they complete—topics include archery, fishing, kayaking, backyard adventure and more. Arkansas Travelers vs. Springfield Cardinals at Dickey Stephens Park: Enjoy your summer nights at the ballpark as the Arkansas Travelers play the Springfield Cardinals. Thursday is Super Hero Night, so little ones can come dressed as their favorite character. And after the Friday and Sunday games, fans will be treated to a fireworks show. Following Saturday’s game, stick around for a post-game Frisbee Toss; participants have a chance to win a car! 7:10 p.m. June 25-27; 6:10 p.m. June 28. $4-$12 in advance; add $1 per ticket on game day. Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre Performances at UCA’s Reynolds Performance Hall in Conway: It’s the final weekend to see a performance from the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, and there are a couple of great shows for families! On Saturday, take in the one-hour, family-friendly adaptation of “As You Like It,” which takes the audience on a comedic romp through the Forest of Arden—an enchanting world in which nothing is quite what it seems.
