EDITOR'S NOTE: The parade has been postponed to Saturday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. due to a strong chance of rain. Jeff Henderson will no longer be able to serve as grand marshall on that date due to prior commitments. For more information click here.

Sylvan Hills students will be cheering loudly on Dec. 3 when Olympic gold medalist Jeff Henderson rides high through the streets of Little Rock as grand marshal of the annual Big Jingle Jubilee Holiday Parade.

Henderson, who won long jump gold at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August, was a state champion in the event for the Sylvan Hills Bears in 2007, and also a winner in the Meet of Champions. He also excelled in the 100-meter dash and relays.

All that glitters isn’t gold, though. There will be plenty of colorful decorations and floats at the parade, sponsored by the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau. Henderson, a McAlmont native, recalls attending the parade with his mom and sisters as a child. “To be part of this is a great honor, and I am sure those feelings will come rushing back to me.”

Taking off at Second and Broadway, the parade will start at 3 p.m. and end at the State Capitol.
