This month brings another exciting opening for families: Bass Pro Shops, located at the I-30 and I-430 interchange in Little Rock. Scheduled to open the evening of Nov. 13, the 104,000-square-foot retailer will outfit outdoor enthusiasts with supplies.

More than that, the store will be a destination for family fun, learning and inspiration. In the entry, families can settle in by the fireplace or marvel at a taxidermy hog scene. Identify local fish species in the huge aquarium—the 24,000 gallon feature will even have a waterfall. Each department will display a mural of Arkansas’ natural beauty, too. In fact, the artists camped at various sites around the state to take photos and find inspiration for the wildlife scenes.

Visitors can also participate in free weekly workshops on fly casting, hunter education, fishing, hiking, Dutch oven cooking and more. The store hosts special family events throughout the year, such as a Family Summer Camp, Fall Hunting Classic and Easter celebration. The fun will kick off in Little Rock with the Evening for Conservation and Santa’s Wonderland. The free Evening for Conservation event will give fans a first look at the store on Nov. 13 (6 p.m.), with a Bowie knife ribbon cutting, an entertainment stage and a grand arrival from Santa Claus. In addition to booths from conservation partners, the store will be decked out for the holidays. Expect a Christmas village, trains, twinkling lights and free photos with the big man in red. Plus, families can play interactive games, including a duck and target shoot, slot car racing and video game center.
